Oh Baby!
After months of planning, hundreds of secret what’s app group messages, the day came to shower love on Chelsey, Callum and little Charlotte.
Chelsey Baby Shower.
Sunday August 16th 2020.
(A little back story.. I know Chelseys big brother from my own school days so it’s still little strange thinking back 20 years ago and now being connected as family. . . as if becoming a Nana at 36 didn’t make me feel old enough haha.)
Over these last 8 months Callum and Chelsey have made us all super proud, from their budgeting and purchase choices, (wanting half the Mamas & Papas catalog but not purchasing it till they could achieve the biggest savings on those possible!) to their decisions on how they want to raise their daughter. Their choices to ensure they nurture and protect Charlotte to the best of their ability is inspiring for anyone but also their drive make sure their daughter has the best of everything they can provide is a natural parenting desire.. and one that I am so pleased they have shared so adamantly from the outset.
As with any parent we all want the best for our kids, Callums Dad & I have always tried to give our kids the best of everything we could within our own ability and so naturally little Charlotte is no exception.. and that is what led me to approach our new extended family and get them involved in creating something special. This little lady is already so loved and spoilt by everyone around her but we wanted to make sure it was a day they can all look back on and see how much love and support they have around them.
So, back in May of this year I decided to approach Chelseys brothers wife, (Gem) and asked her if she and Chelseys sister Kelly (not forgetting Lou, Kellys wife) would like to come together and try plan a baby shower for Chelsey. Despite my initial anxiety over approaching people I didn’t know, Gem, Kelly and Lou were welcoming and all thrilled to be asked. They jumped straight in and plans began to form. Covid was obviously a massive restriction though so we planned the day to be as late as we could without getting TOO close to Chesleys due date. Thankfully we timed it perfectly and within the restrictions of Covid rules.
From afternoon tea and picnic in the park ideas, we finally decided to try keep it as personal as we could and Gem offered up her home to host it. With a huge play park at the end of her garden this allowed us to keep social distancing rules in place should they not have been lifted by then. (The day prior though, reception events for up to 30 people were allowed so we could not have timed it any better!)
We picked a theme and rolled with it, from handmade & hand designed stationary and games to all the matching decor.. we created a vision and made it happen. In June our cake was selected and deposit paid. Next up were maternity photos.. Photos were always on the agenda no matter what but we wanted to make them special too. We created a save the date invite for Chelsey, Callum brought Chelsey the stunning dress you see in her images and we surprised her with a picnic on the beach, Kelly picked the date and again a perfect pick! The universe was on our side and mother nature provided us with the perfect back drop. They became the perfect features for the shower.
So the day came and we can’t thank all those who turned up enough, planning and creating only goes so far. The day woulnd’t be what it is without those who come together to show the love and share in the joy. Chelsey, Callum and our little Charlotte are so incredibly blessed to have such wonderful people around them to support and love on them, despite a little rain everyone had a beautiful day.
Chelsey and Callum smiled and laughed the whole day through and THAT was exactly what Kelly, Lou, Gem and I had hoped for. Thank YOU to all their friends and family for coming and making it so special.
So without rambling on anymore.. Heres a little snippet into what was a wonderfully memorable day for us all. xoxo
